Agent of Chelsea star comments on exit rumours

Petr Cech

The agent of Petr Cech says that many clubs are interested in the Chelsea goalkeeper - including Liverpool and Manchester United - but no decisions have been made yet about his future.

Petr Cech had grown accustomed to being the first name on the Chelsea team sheet down the years, but has found himself marginalised by Thibaut Courtois this season.

The Stamford Bridge veteran has seen himself usurped as the Blues number 1 by the former Atletico Madrid loan star, making clear that an exit could be on the horizon.

AS Roma has been named as a potential next port of call for the Czech international, where he could link up with a prominent ex-Chelsea star in the form of Ashley Cole.

The Giallorossi are currently in the market for a goalkeeper with Morgan De Sanctis’s future uncertain and reserve shot-stopper Lukasz Skorupski still a raw product.

But Cech’s agent, Viktor Kolar, has stated in an interview with that he has yet to engage in talks with the Serie A giants at present.

Kolar said: “I cannot confirm anything at this time, I have to meet with Petr and speak for the good of his future – but I can say that I have not spoken with Roma at the moment.”

Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have both also been mentioned as possible destinations for Cech, the former looking to replace Courtois after seeing him return to Chelsea.

Kolar proceeded to rule Atletico out of the running, but listed Real alongside Roma and a pair of Premier League giants as clubs who have an eye on Cech.

“There are many options, not just one – there are many teams interested in Petr," he said. "I do not know anything about Atletico Madrid, this rumour is not true.

“There are many clubs we can mention – Roma, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester United – we can talk with many clubs that have shown an interest in Cech.

Asked if Cech would be open to moving to Roma, Kolar responded affirmatively, and said that if the Chelsea stalwart must move on, it will be for an ambitious club.

“Of course, it [playing for Roma] would be a great opportunity. If he must change teams it would be for a club that has big ambitions," he said.

“He wants to be at a club that regularly plays in the Champions League and this is his highest aspiration. He wants to return to being a protagonist in a great squad at a great club.”
