Leeds United star Adryan has revealed Liverpool and Chelsea players as the stars he wants to mirror.
Leeds United attacking star Adryan has cited Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho and Chelsea’s Oscar as the two players in English football he wants to emulate.
The Brazilian has struggled for a first team chance at Elland Road so far this season, confined to performances in the under-21 ranks as he looks to improve his match fitness.
With a visit to Rotherham United on the cards this Friday, excitement is building over whether he’ll be handed his Championship debut by Darko Milanic. If he does start and if he plays like either of the stars he wants to copy, Leeds will have a very exciting attack to watch over the rest of the season.
“I met Coutinho when I played for Flamengo and he for Vasco. I’ve always admired him and sought to see his games,” he told Globoesporte.
“Once a week I would put his name into YouTube to see if they had a new video, because how he played was really impressive.”
“Oscar I had the opportunity to meet when the national squads were together in Spain – both players are really impressive and I seek to follow in their footsteps because they play in England.”
Coutinho is the player that Brendan Rodgers once described as the ‘brain’ of the Liverpool attack.
He’s a creative player who is extremely efficient in terms of possession play and how he protects the ball, able to unlock a deep sitting defence late into a match with a single pass.
Oscar is the star whose form and consistency ultimately led to Juan Mata’s departure from Chelsea.
The Brazilian sits at the top of Chelsea’s midfield but he’s also capable of dropping off and providing some defensive aggression as he looks to win the ball back and help the Blues to maintain pressure.
Adryan’s first job is to get into Milanic’s first team and stay there. Once he’s done that, if he can mimic either of the players he’s mentioned, Leeds should be in great shape for promotion.
