Jackson Martinez is pleased to be attracting the attentions of clubs overseas.
Make no mistake, Jackson Martinez is looking to challenge himself beyond Porto in seasons to come.
When he signed a new contract this summer, his agent insisted his release clause was lowered from €40 million to €35 million.
While the agreement is that no deal can be struck this January, next summer there is every chance of him moving on.
So right now the Colombian international has to be focused on the Primeira Liga club, and that shows, with him scoring 10 goals in 13 games for Porto in all competitions this season.
Speaking to the Portuguese press, this week he said: "Napoli or Arsenal? I chose FC Porto. I'm in the team, content, and it seems inevitable that there is talk of these things, but I prefer to wait until the moment arrives in the market.
"At this point, I'm focused on the internationals and then return to FC Porto. Of course we always see it as a compliment to know that there are clubs attentive, but that is a matter for my agent and the club."
He is now in his third season in Porto, and showing his previous prolific efforts were no flukes. If Arsenal do not go for him next summer, there is a strong chance he will land up elsewhere, and if they are not careful, it will be a Premier League rival.
