West Ham and QPR look to Lazio man

Queens Park Rangers and West Ham may fight it out for the chance to sign Lazio right-back Abdoulay Konko.

French defender Abdoulay Konko wants to leave Lazio and reports in Italy suggest that QPR and West Ham are likely destinations.

The 30-year-old can also play on the wing and has extensive top-flight experience in Italy, having played around 150 Serie A games, as well as spending three years at Sevilla.

Recently, Konko has been a victim of Lazio's large squad and has slipped down the pecking order at the Stadio Olimpico, fighting a losing battle with Luis Pedro Cavanda, leading many to suspect he will shortly be moving on.

Il Messaggero says that Konko's Lazio exit is inevitable at this stage and a queue of clubs is already starting to form.

The Italian newspaper believes that QPR and West Ham are favourites but West Bromwich Albion are also interested with a move to England almost certain.

The problem may lie in Konko's wage demands, which Il Messaggero believes are around £1.3 million and won't be reduced to ease a transfer.
