Gary Lineker is a big fan of Jack Wilshere.
Are we seeing Jack Wilshere beginning to hit his stride?
Match of the Day host Gary Lineker believes so, commenting glowingly about his performance for England against Estonia.
Wilshere was a substitute at the World Cup, but has stepped up under Roy Hodgson this campaign and was superb in Sunday's 1-0 victory.
Great to see @JackWilshere blossoming into the footballer many of us thought he'd become. Comfortably England's best player today, I felt.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) October 12, 2014
Lineker certainly got the feeling his opinion was not universally agreed with, and made a snide remark regarding those who were better qualified to judge.
Lots of replies from those who've played a few games of FIFA and therefore are better qualified to opine. Have your view, but allow me mine.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) October 12, 2014
It should not be forgotten Wilshere is only 22-years-old, and missed an entire season through injury too, holding back his accelerated development.
With places at a premium in Arsenal's starting line-up, he has found it tricky at times to hold down a regular place, benched for the club's FA Cup Final in May.
Just like for England, there has been a marked improvement in his displays this season, and if he continues, he has a great chance of becoming the player everybody wants him to be, providing fans and pundits alike keep their expectations realistic.
