Manchester United’s Luke Shaw: Why playing v Chelsea in Premier League will be special

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is looking forward to the Premier League clash against Chelsea at Old Trafford later this month.

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has explained why it would be a special occasion for him to play against Chelsea later this month.

The Red Devils will host Jose Mourinho’s side at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday, October 26.

Shaw grew up as a Chelsea supporter and has played against the Blues as a Southampton player, and he is now looking forward to facing the London club once again.

‘Playing against Chelsea is a big thing in my family and among my friends because I was born around that area of London’, the 19-year-old told Inside United. ‘I used to watch them when I was youngster, which is something I’m sure people know by now.

‘When I first played at Stamford Bridge with Southampton it was a bit of a surreal experience in a lot of ways because it was at a ground I’d visited as a kid’.

United are currently fourth in the Premier League table with 11 points from seven matches, while Chelsea are eight points clear at the top.

It will be an intriguing and closely-fought clash between the two teams at Old Trafford, and one suspects that Shaw will play an important role.

The 19-year-old defender, signed from Southampton for a reported transfer fee of £27 million, has made just two league appearances for United so far this season, but he could start against Chelsea.
