Luciano Becchio has been ruled out for three months.
Rotherham United loanee has confirmed he has suffered a broken ankle and will be out for three months.
The Argentine was recapturing his form after a tough season-and-a-half at Norwich City, netting two goals in his last two games for the Yorkshire side.
With a game against rivals Leeds United this Friday in the Championship, Rotherham fans reacted to the news with disappointment.
gutted for Becchio, was starting to get some form for us. time for Derbyshire etc to step up now. no idea who we could get in on loan. #rufc— Josh Sanderson (@joshsanderson0) October 13, 2014
While a dismal blow for the newly promoted side over the coming months, in the short-term it is rivals Leeds who profit.
With their ex-striker hitting form, the signs looked ominous that he would put Darko Milanci's side to the sword in their upcoming encounter.
All jokes aside you've got to feel a bit for Becchio. 18 months sat on his arse then breaks his ankle. What a life? #lufc— Jon Howe (@jonhowe1971) October 13, 2014
Can only be good for us Becchio is injured Friday! Lethal in the air #lufc— Danny McKenzie (@TheRealDmac_) October 13, 2014
Gutted Becchio won't be playing on Friday for Rotherham. But then again, the customary ex player blinder won't occur now. #lufc— Anthony Lewis (@tonylewis92) October 13, 2014
He's done it on purpose. He couldn't live with playing against us. God bless you, Luciano Becchio. #lufc— joseph (@shottersnati0n) October 13, 2014
