Tottenham Hotspur latest: club after new director? Praise for Chadli

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Monday evening.

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be interested in hiring Sevilla's sporting director Monchi according to the London Evening Standard.

They cite reports from Spain which suggest that Monchi will be leaving last season's Europa League winners at the end of the season - and is looking for a new challenge.

Monchi is said to have a good reputation for spotting promising talent. Franco Baldini is currently Tottenham's techncial director but has been heavily criticised for the club's spending spree last season, which only produced a sixth place finish.

Bayern Munich and Barcelona are also reportedly interested in Monchi.

Defender Jan Vertonghen has praised the performances of Nacer Chadli whilst the duo have been on internatonal duty with Belgium.

Chadli has had an impressive start to the season for Spurs and seems to be thriving under new boss Mauricio Pochettino, something which hasn't gone unnoticed by Vertonghen.

He's quoted by the club website, saying: “It’s great that he’s growing. He’s a very good player and it’s a shame he couldn’t show what he is capable of last year but now we’re seeing the real Nacer.

“We already knew from his performances for Belgium what he was able to do so I’m pleased for him and the Club.”
