AC Milan midfielder Michael Essien has completely rejected rumours circulating online that he has contracted Ebola and his club have also released a statement.
The reports began to surface on Sunday from sources outside Italy but the player has moved to make it clear that there is no substance to such talk.
Essien tweeted to reassure fans that he was completely healthy yesterday evening:
No truth in internet rumours that I have contracted Ebola.i m very well & I'm doing very gud & will be training as usual tomorrow.#falsenews— Michael Essien (@MichaelEssien) October 12, 2014
Essien then hit out at whoever had spread the false reports, stressing his sympathy for those who are suffering from the outbreak of Ebola:

AC Milan released a statement saying: "AC Milan denies categorically the reports coming from abroad about their player. These stories are without any substance and have never been confirmed by anyone at the club."
Essien is expected to play in Milan's next game against Verona and has an important chance to impress with Nigel de Jong suspended.
