Cameron Carter-Vickers may be only 16 years of age, but the Tottenham Hotspur centre-half is not scared of facing players a number of years older than him.
On Monday, the teenager could line up for the USA Under-23 side against their Brazilian counterparts in a friendly match in Brasilia.
Carter-Vickers is the youngest player to be named in the USA’s 21-man squad and has been training in Brazil for the past couple of days.
However, the youngster is relishing the prospect of playing for his country’s U23 side at Estadio Nacional and told Tottenham’s official website: ‘We’re playing Brazil and obviously their first team is very good, so they should have some good youth players as well.
‘It will be special because we’re playing in one of the new stadiums that’s going to be used for the Olympics, so hopefully there will be quite a few fans there. I know it will be difficult but I’m looking forward to it a lot’.
Carter-Vickers is not in Tottenham’s first-team picture yet, but he appears to have the right attitude and the determination to break through in the not-too-distant future.
