Rafael da Silva is the most competitive player in Manchester United training, according to Andreas Pereira.
The 18-year-old Brazilian midfielder has been speaking to United’s official website on a host of topics, and was asked who the most competitive player in training is.
‘I think it's Rafael’, said Pereira. ‘He doesn't like to lose. He is very competitive and always wants to win. He sets a really good example and is a really good pro’.
It may come as a surprise to many that Rafael has been described as the most competitive United player in training. One would probably have expected someone else.
However, Pereira’s comments show just how much Rafael is determined to achieve success at United. The 24-year-old has been on the books of the Manchester outfit since 2008 and has made over 100 Premier League appearances, but he has not always been convincing.
In recent matches, though, the Brazil international has started to step up his game and has looked confident. In four appearances in the Premier League so far this season, Rafael has created three chances and has a pass accuracy of 87%.
There is a long way to go before Rafael can truly claim to be one of the best right-backs in the Premier League, but it appears that he is doing his best in training.
