Roberto Di Matteo may have been appointed the Schalke coach only on Tuesday and a number of his players are away on international duty, but his training sessions are in full swing.
The 44-year-old former Chelsea boss has been working with the Schalke players he has at the moment this week (the best pictures of which are below).
Di Matteo has succeeded Jens Keller at the German club following a run of disappointing results in the Bundesliga. Schalke are currently 11th in the league table with eight points from seven matches, just three points above the relegation zone.
This is Di Matteo’s first managerial job since being sacked by Chelsea in November 2012. The former West Bromwich Albion boss led the Premier League outfit to their first ever - and so far only - Champions League triumph, but a poor start to the 2012-13 campaign saw him lose his job at Stamford Bridge.
However, Di Matteo is back in football management and will hope to make it a success at Schalke.
