Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers stars top the table when it comes to outfield blocks.
Goal-scorers make the headlines...or goalkeepers if they happen to pull off a particularly impressive save...but defenders rarely get the plaudits despite putting their bodies on the line game in, game out.
But two defenders are currently impressing more than most in the Championship, and one statistic in particular proves just how important they are to their respective sides.
Wolverhampton Wanderers' Danny Batth and Leeds United's Jason Pearce are joint-top when it comes to outfield blocks this season. Both players have put their body in the way of opposition shots on 19 occasions, and without them, their club's would be significantly weaker at the back.
Some are suggesting that Batth is the best defender currently playing in the second tier, but Pearce - among others - would have something to say about that, with the 26-year-old Leeds man vital to the Whites.
Four points currently separate Wolves in eighth place in the Championship and Leeds in 14th, but whatever happens for the remainder of the season, their brave and vital centre-backs are likely to have a huge say on proceedings.
