Does Juan Mata hold the key to Manchester United's Vidal signing?

Arturo Vidal with Juventus Squad

Reports suggest the Spaniard could be used in attempt to lure the Chilean to Old Trafford.

Manchester United's reported interest in Arturo Vidal is both as long standing as it is mysterious.

The Chilean's knee troubles, combined with Juventus's reluctance to sell, paint the picture that Vidal was never going to come to Old Trafford.

The picture with Angel Di Maria, for instance, was much clearer. United visibly wanted him. And got him.

Vidal, however, has said he was never close to moving to Manchester.

And yet the reports persist. Louis van Gaal reportedly still wants the 27-year-old midfielder. The future of attacking midfielder Juan Mata, meanwhile, is also the subject of speculation.

Put the two together, then, and you have a big transfer story on your hands.

That's exactly what Corriere dello Sport have done, as Mata has been linked with a move to Juventus, with Vidal reportedly going the other way.

The Chilean is said to have become unsettled in Turin, while Spaniard Mata is not considered Van Gaal's first choice in the no.10 role at Man United.

An agreement could thus be arranged between both clubs, with United finally getting their man.

Could it happen? Let's wait and see...
