United star reportedly likes idea of Real move; contract talks vital

Manchester United's goalkeeper has again been linked with Real Madrid.

Manchester United fans have received plenty of good news lately, with the likes of Radamel Falcao and Angel Di Maria arriving at the club, and a place in the top four looking far more likely than just a few short months ago. But they may want to look away now, because fresh reports from Spain have linked David de Gea with a move to Real Madrid.

These stories have been doing the rounds for some time, but the longer the Spanish international goes without signing a new contract, the more worried United fans will become.

De Gea is now undeniably one of the best stoppers in the world, but with a current contract that runs only until the summer of 2016, there is a distinct possibility that he could move on in due course.

United will want to ensure that does not happen, tying him to a new long-term deal as soon as possible. And yet for now that has not happened, and Spanish newspaper Marca claims De Gea could be the future for both Spain and for Real.

The latest report claims that while De Gea is happy at United he has been promised a move to Real by his agent in the future and that he “likes the idea”. This is of course mere speculation, but the report goes on to claim that once Iker Casillas leaves the Bernabeu, the United ‘keeper could take his place.

Having watched him blossom at Old Trafford in recent times, and seen his master-class against Everton last weekend, United will surely do everything they can to keep him. But the longer the stories continue, and the longer De Gea goes without signing a new deal, the more likely Marca will ultimately be proved right.
