United States drew 1-1 with Ecuador on Friday night as forward Landon Donovan waved goodbye to international football.
The United States bid farewell to forward Landon Donovan on Friday night as the LA Galaxy forward made his final international appearance in a 1-1 draw against Ecuador at Rentschler Field, Connecticut.
Jurgen Klinsmann handed one final appearance to 32-year-old Donovan, who he left out of his squad for the World Cup in Brazil this summer. It was an emotional night as Donovan waved goodbye to international football, and unfortunately, he couldn't add to his tally of 57 goals in 157 caps in the draw.
Max Diskerud gave the United States the lead in the fifth minute, and whilst Donovan hit the post, he couldn't find the back of the net before West Ham United striker Enner Valencia smashed a long range striker past USA's Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan with just three minutes to play.
Valencia, a summer signing for the Hammers after a strong World Cup, is making a habit of scoring long range goals, and once again showed his ability against the United States.
Tottenham full back DeAndre Yedlin also featured, and he is one of the players featured below in a gallery of some of the best images from the game.
