On the 11th October 2013 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Manchester United and Arsenal.

Let's cast our eyes back to this exact day, the 11th October 2014, but a year earlier.

What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the 11th October 2013…

Draxler mentions Arsenal

Julian Draxler was discussing his future plans and ambitions suggesting he did want to make a move to a foreign league at some point in the future - even naming Arsenal, the team most heavily linked with his signature, as a potential future location.

"I owe Schalke a lot, I have always been at Schalke. I need to emphasise this. But I'm not so rooted here that I could not tear myself away.

"I can honestly say that it is my dream to play for one of the big clubs at some point. The big two in Spain, Real and Barcelona. Bayern and a few others from England, namely Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea."

Draxler has a £37 million release clause in his current Schalke contract - and a year on Arsenal are still heavily linked with his coveted signature.

United wanted Ozil

Manchester United could have signed Mesut Ozil last summer, it was revealed a year ago today.

Arsenal had agreed a fee with Real Madrid and had undergone a medical at Germany's training camp in Munich.

But United made a move late on, reportedly being in the running for the player until 8pm. #

In the end United just snapped up Marouane Fellaini instead.
