Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has been talking about England under-21s' latest win – a 2-1 victory over Croatia.
The teenage left-back tweeted his delight at the win, writing, “Great win last night. Now time to recover and get ready for the game on Tuesday.”
Shaw also spoke to the FA’s official website after the match, revealing how it felt to play for Gareth Southgate’s side.
“It’s a really good performance from everyone tonight and I’m pleased to have been involved in it,” the United left-back said.
“The main thing we wanted was a victory, but it’s a shame we didn’t get a clean-sheet too.”
Shaw has now experienced three consecutive 2-1 wins, after playing his part in United’s victories over West Ham United and Everton in recent weeks.
And it seems the teenager has finally got over his injury problems that meant he had to wait quite some time for his competitive United debut.
With Marcos Rojo currently playing at centre-back, and Shaw fighting fit, the former Southampton star has the chance to make the left-back position his own under Louis van Gaal, and he is going the right way about it.
