Chelsea morning news: Mourinho on squad strength; International round-up

Petr Cech At Stamford Bridge

All the latest news from Stamford Bridge this morning.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been discussing his team's potential and he believes that The Blues can 'adapt to anything' as they sit pretty at the top of the Premier League table.

He was discussing the strength in depth of the team - specifically referring to the likes of John Obi Mikel and Petr Cech sitting on the bench for the club.

He stated:

"Only we can lose a keeper and not panic...But as for the football panic and talk of 'oh my god, what is going to happen?' ... the other one [Cech] just comes on and no-one in the seats feels any fear because we know the big guy is there for us too. I am happy with everything. In this moment our team are able to adapt to everything...

"When I play Mikel, I don't need to say something to Nemanja Matic or Cesc Fabregas or to the team. They know what is going to happen, what the team are going to do, they know what Fabregas can give us when he then plays as a No.10 rather than a No.8. The team is very solid."

Chelsea players were on international duty last night. Both goalkeepers were on winning sides. Thibaut Courtois had very little to do on his return from concussion, as Belgium thrashed Andorra 6-0 at home.

Petr Cech kept goal as the Czech Republic looked impressive again. They won 2-1 in Istanbul against Turkey to take the initiative in their respective qualifying group.

Egypt also won, with Mohamed Salah on the score-sheet in a 2-0 victory against Botswana.

Kurt Zouma came off injured for France Under-21's against Sweden - a game his team won 2-0 in Le Mans.
