Reported Manchester United target Arturo Vidal has suffered yet another injury, this time in Chile’s 3-0 win over Peru.
The Juventus midfielder, who played the full match on Friday evening, appears to have suffered another setback following quotes from his international coach Jorge Sampaoli.
In comments published by Football Italia, Sampaoli said, “Arturo finished the game with pain in his knee tendon and we’ll see what to do after tests.
“Peru did not come here to play a friendly, as it was a tough and intense match.”
The news comes as yet another blow to Vidal, who has suffered a string of injuries in recent times.
The midfielder suffered a serious knee injury prior to the World Cup, but made a remarkable recovery to feature for his county in their impressive run. But that swift return prompted some to wonder if he had been rushed back too soon, and was reportedly a reason why United had doubts about bringing him to Old Trafford this summer.
More recently, Vidal had a minor thigh problem and he has yet to play a full 90 minutes for Juventus this season. And with every new setback, one wonders if United did the right thing not moving for him when they were so strongly tipped to do so.
