Chelsea striker Diego Costa had an afternoon to forget against Slovakia, as another goalless performance left him slouched on the floor at the end of the game.
Costa has started superly at Chelsea and has scored more goals than games he has played in. However, for Spain, it's a totally different story and he misfired once again to take his international record to no goals in five games.
However, talking to the cameras after yet another defeat for Spain, Vincente del Bosque remained in an upbeat spirit and publically backed Diego Costa's attitude.
''He is putting in a lot of enthusiasm,'' commented Del Bosque on Diego Costa.
''I am happy with his behaviour and the thrill he has to play.''
On the game, the Spanish manager added: ''This is totally unexpected. I do not think we're in a bad dynamic.
''In the last game we scored five goals and today we at least deserve a draw. It is a factor to consider, but do not think we are in a negative dynamic.
''Nobody likes to lose and I can not have any complaints from players that have proven [worthy of a point] until the last minute.''
Spain, who are still reeling from their abysmal World Cup, have the whole world looking at them now, as another defeat for the team that was so dominant for so many years ricochets through the footballing world.
Costa will no doubt want to put the performance against Slovakia behind him, and he can do that by netting his first goal in Spain's red shirt this Sunday as Del Bosque's side faces Luxembourg in another European Championship qualification match.
