Roberto Martinez has issued two challenges to defender John Stones.
The Spaniard first of all wants the young defender to return from injury, but once he does so, Martinez has instructed Stones to a: recapture the form that wowed Goodison Park crowds earlier this season and b: improve on that performance-level.
“We want to see John reaching that level again," said Martinez to the club's official website. "We know John will come back stronger and as a better player going into the second part of the season.
Stones is still only 20-years-old but has already produced commendable form at the heart of defence and also on the right hand side.
Martinez is confident he has the tools within the squad to cope with the injury: "Antolin Alcaraz is working well and so is Tyias Browning, who can play that position.
"We’ve got another two young players who have been doing really well. I don’t want to lose any players who are doing well but injuries are part of the game."
