The Wednesday stopper has been in fine form over the season so far, after he signed from Sunderland this summer.
Westwood has been able to keep Chris Kirkland out of the team at Hillsborough, and has made a series of notable saves already.
It had led to Waddle recognising his ability today and the former Wednesday star says that Westwood will earn the side a considerable number of points this season.
“Westwood has got to be worth 15 to 20 points for Wednesday this season,” Waddle said to the Sheffield Telegraph.
If Westwood does manage to single-handedly boost the Yorkshire side's points total by that vast amount it may the difference between a mediocre season and a promotion one.
Many had felt that Wednesday could struggle against the drop at the start of the season, but Stuart Gray's team's form so far this season has proved this notion wrong.
The club are on the outskirts of the playoffs and a good run of form should push them back into promotion contention.
Their next game comes against Watford and Gray's men will be looking to return to winning ways after going three games without a victory.
