Manchester City morning news: Hart prank, ex-Gunner criticises Milner position

A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester City.

Joe Hart was voted Vauxhall’s man of the match for England last night against San Marino.

Pranksters appeared to poke fun at England’s 5-0 win, where Hart was rarely called into action during the game.

He won 63% of the vote from all of those who took part.

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown says playing James Milner in the middle of the side didn’t work for England.

Roy Hodgson started Milner at the base of a midfield diamond, moving Jack Wilshere forward on the left hand side.

“It didn’t work. Milner has been in good form for City and with his defensive quality and work-rate, he deserved a chance – He didn’t move the ball quickly enough through the middle,” wrote Keown for the Daily Mail.

Eliaquim Mangala says he wants to partner Raphael Varane at the heart of the French defence.

Mangala has endured a difficult start to life at City but he remains one of the first choice centre-backs in his position at international level.

“I know Rapha well. We played together with the France Under-21 team. We know each other well on the pitch, it's true,” he said.
