According to TalkSPORT, Everton and Southampton are set to do battle in January for Kwadwo Asamoah.
The duo both have identified the Juventus man as a player who could add quality to their squads and hope to sign him on loan.
So far Asamoah has had to largely watch from the sidelines as Juve have kicked off their season, and his persistent exclusion from the starting line-up has meant his frustrations have grown.
The 25-year-old is adept as a left-back or in the centre of midfield, meaning that he could cover a number of positions for either of the Premier League sides.
That makes his arrival a particularly attractive proposition for the Toffees fans, who have seen their side suffer with a series of injuries this season. A number of first-team players have been ruled out and his versatility could come in handy for the Goodison Park side.
Although he is unlikely to displace Leighton Baines at left-back, his energy in midfield could come in handy and he would add an increased physical edge to the side.
Southampton, meanwhile, are not in desperate need for recruits given their fine start, but manager Ronald Koeman is obviously a subscriber to the theory that you can never have too much quality. Asamoah would provide good competition for his current first-team squad.
The Saints are aiming to qualify for the Champions League after making an excellent start to the campaign, and adding depth to their squad is likely to help them achieve that goal.
