Chile coach comments on £50m Manchester United target Vidal's motivation

Chile coach Jorge Sampaoli on Manchester United linked Vidal's motivation.

Arturo Vidal has had an eventful few months, starring at the World Cup, and at the centre of one of the highest profile transfer sagas of the summer.

The Chilean has also been dogged by injuries, and was last week fined by Juventus over his involvement in a nightclub altercation in Italy.

He is back on international duty this week, and coach Jorge Sampaoli has been talking about what is making him tick.

Speaking at a press conference, and quoted by Italian newspaper Tuttosport, he said: "I see in his eyes the hope of returning to the Vidal that has enchanted the world.

"I do not know what happened in Turin, his knee is fine and I only care about what he's doing here."

Vidal has made only three Serie A starts so far in what has been a stop-start season for him, and returning to his very best begins with staying healthy.

Staying fit, and back to his best has another impact too. It would potentially re-ignite Manchester United's interest in his signature.

Manager Louis van Gaal reportedly held back on an offer over concerns with his fitness, and so far the Chilean has been unable to categorically prove this the wrong decision.

If Vidal can go onto have a vintage season, another summer saga in 2015 awaits.
