A left-back, Mings has started 10 of 11 Championship games this season, and has been an ever-present throughout the month of September, as the club remained unbeaten, moving from the lower reaches of the table into the play-off places.
His impressive start to the season has drawn further interest from Premier League sides, with Arsenal and Chelsea said to be tracking the youngster, and his award for being the best Championship player throughout September will surely only ramp up interest in the former Southampton academy prospect.
Speaking to the official Ipswich website, Mings revealed how delighted he was at the award, as well as praising manger Mick McCarthy for winning the Manager of the Month award.
He said: “I’m thrilled to win this award and it’s great to see the gaffer be named as Manager of the Month too.
“It shows how well we are doing as a team and credit must go to all of my teammates too, as it’s a joint effort.
“We’ve had a good month, which included some long trips in midweek to Wigan and Sheffield Wednesday, so I have to praise the supporters too.
“Obviously I’m delighted to win the award and hopefully we can continue to push on after the international break.”
Town have continued their unbeaten run into October, having secured an impressive 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest last week. They will be looking to cement themselves as real promotion contenders when Championship action returns after the international break - with a home tie against Blackburn on October 18.
