A recent interview caused the Iron Man star to confirm an Iron Man 4 is on the cards, only to then say the contrary in another interview.
During an interview on the Ellen DeGeneres show Robert Downey Jr. confirmed that there will be a fourth Iron Man movie, however just a few hours later he then confirmed on the Letterman show that there wouldn't be a fourth Iron Man movie.
It was only last month that RDJ cofirmed 'no, there's no plan for a fourth 'Iron Man,' when speaking to Variety. However the interview with Ellen went like this:
RDJ: I know there's going to be a bunch more Marvel movies - and they have big ideas of how to do it best and we're in the middle of negotiation...
ELLEN: So yes?
RDJ: Yeah. Okay, yes.
But when speaking to David Letterman on his show RDJ said, 'there’s no plans for an Iron Man 4...' He continued to say, 'no, there's no script for Iron Man 4, but [Marvel] do have a plan, and I think they're going to announce it...'
Despite the contradicting confirmations of Iron Man 4 from RDJ, his talk of doing 'other stuff' with Marvel at least signals that the studio is keen to keep the actor appearing as Tony Stark in their franchise. The next time we'll get to see him as the billionaire Tony Stark will be in the upcoming Avengers 2: Age of Ultron due out in 2015.
