The curse of the international break has struck again for Liverpool after Croatia’s official Twitter feed confirmed Dejan Lovren has suffered an injury, which keeps him out of the match against Bulgaria tomorrow night.
The type and severity of the problem the Reds defender has is unclear but he’s being replaced by Gordon Schildenfeld for the match in Bulgaria. He’s thought to have developed the problem during training for the game.
Lovren has been one of Liverpool’s first choice players so far this season after his big money move from Southampton during the summer transfer window.
He’s started all seven of the side’s Premier League games and both Champions League matches so far, which will leave Brendan Rodgers sweating over the severity of the problem for the next two weeks.
The news comes after Jordan Henderson came out of the last international break carrying a slight niggle although he was able to recover and hopefully, Lovren won’t have any long term problems.
The Croatian FA's Tweet suggests he won't play any part for his country before the return of the Premier League.
