Manchester United morning news: United backed by Italian paper over Vidal move

A round up of morning news stories about Manchester United.

SportWitness points to Italian newspaper GdS in suggesting that a deal for Juventus star Arturo Vidal could happen this winter.

The £40 million rated Chilean has been on United’s radar since early summer and the Serie A champions could be open to doing a deal.

Vidal’s behaviour away from the pitch is thought to be a key reason they could consider letting him leave.

Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney says he’s excited by the pace and energy of the England team.

Rooney leads England into the Euro 2016 qualifying game against San Marino this evening.

“Even today in training, it was unbelievable the amount of energy we’ve got in the team. The speed we can move the ball at and open teams, it’s really exciting to be a part of,” said Rooney.

Louis van Gaal has called on Angel Di Maria to improve at Manchester United.

The Argentine has made a stunning start to his career at Old Trafford with three goals and three assists from all appearances so far.

“When you give assists and also you score goals, what can you ask more of a player? But of course we have to improve in a lot of things and also Di Maria has to improve,” said the boss.
