Christian Eriksen is one of Tottenham Hotspur’s most important midfield players.
The Dane is integral to the front of the side and one of the few players in the team who can create something out of nothing, which can win a tight game and secure vital points.
However, there are two areas of his game where he’s been below average and one above so far this season, where Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping he can improve.
|Per Game||Position||Team||Dispossessed||Duel Won||Interception Won||Appearances||Mins Played|
|Premier League Average||-||-||0.8||3.99||1.09||4.66||332.47|
Eriksen is losing possession a higher average number of times, which will be very frustrating to him personally.
Any creative and aggressive midfielder has to be able to protect possession because failure to do so can mean all of the pressure a team has created over the opposition is lost.
Eriksen will also be disappointed to see that the number of interceptions he’s making per game on average is below where it should be.
If he can improve this area, it means he can step in and cut out danger instantly launching a Tottenham Hotspur attack and releasing players who can make the most of space on the counter attack.
The other key area he’s below average in the Premier League is in terms of the number of duels he’s winning, which may come as a surprise to most of the club’s supporters.
If Eriksen can win a higher number of duels in the middle of the team it will make him more difficult to bully and brush off of the ball in big games, which again relates back to him being able to keep the ball more effectively.
The Dane has a smart manager who will work hard to improve these areas of his game as he looks to add further goals and register assists in big games, as the club continues their quest for Champions League football.
