All the latest news and gossip from The Emirates Stadium.

This summer Arsenal snapped up Danny Welbeck from Manchester United in a £16 million deal on Transfer Deadline day.

The signing was a controversial one on both ends, as many Arsenal fans doubted the quality of the England international while many United fans were unhappy to see a local lad leave the club.

However so far he has looked a success and one person not surprised is Manchester United and England captain Wayne Rooney.

Rooney, who is currently on international duty with Welbeck, believes Arsenal have got a real talent on their hands in the form of the pacey striker.

He told the media ahead of tonight's game with San Marino:

"Daniel's a fantastic footballer, I think sometimes he doesn't get the credit he deserves for his footballing ability. Obviously he's quick and athletic and can score different type of goals, actually as a footballer he's very intelligent.

"You'll start to see that the more he plays for Arsenal week in week out, he'll prove what a good footballer he is, and for England."

Arsenal have reportedly offered Sami Khedira £100,000-a-week to become an Arsenal player.

Reports in Spain suggest that Arsenal are ready to bring in a new defensive midfielder and the German international, who is close to club record signing Mesut Ozil, is believed to be their new number one target.

He is a free agent next summer but Chelsea, Bayern Munich and AC Milan are expected to compete for his much coveted signature.

The club are looking at other options, one of which is Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Yohan Cabaye. The former Newcastle United star has admitted he is unhappy at PSG - less than a year after he left Newcastle United for the French capital.

Early reports are indicating that a loan deal might be a possibility.

Finally, and Arsenal are reportedly ready to spend £34 million in Athletic Bilbao's French defender Aymeric Laporte.

The 20-year-old is considered one of Europe's best central defenders and Arsenal are convinced the poor form of Bilbao this season could give them an advantage in attempting to secure his signature.

However, Barcelona are also said to be keen on his signature.
