Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a swap deal which could see them signing Carlos Bacca from Sevilla.
Spanish website Estadio Deportivo has linked Tottenham Hotspur with a swap deal for Sevilla forward Carlos Bacca.
Soldado has struggled to have a big impact at Spurs since he joined the club from Valencia and he’s being linked with an exit after an inconsistent start to life under Mauricio Pochettino.
The Spaniard has featured off the bench just twice for Spurs this season in the Premier League and has failed to register his first goal or assist of the new season.
In contrast, the player Spurs are reportedly getting in return should all parties opt for a swap deal, has scored five goals and provided one assist from his seven La Liga appearances this season.
The ultimate aim for Spurs is to secure Champions League football by the end of the season and some renewed fire power in the January transfer window could make the difference over the second half of the season.
Soldado just hasn’t been able to adapt to the qualities and style of how Tottenham Hotspur like to play their football after a decent spell in Spain but there is something which could prevent this deal from happening.
Reports this morning have suggested former spurs boss Harry Redknapp is keen on trying to do a deal for Emmanuel Adebayor, which could increase the risk factor in terms of letting Soldado leave.
Pochettino could be reluctant to do a deal, which would leave him without two strikers at a key stage of the season.
Of course Bacca would be coming in, but should he opt for that deal, Soldado’s motivation to try and produce his very best performance for Spurs would have disintegrated.
It seems a bit speculative on ED’s part but it’s a potentially solid deal if Tottenham can pull it off.
