‘They’re back where they should be,’ Hammers hero on West Ham

John Hartson has been speaking about his former club and his best memories at the Boleyn Ground.

Former West Ham United and Wales forward John Hartson has been speaking to the club’s official website about his favourite memories when playing at home for the Hammers.

But Hartson could not settle on one, instead speaking about four different occasions that will stay with him forever.

The West Ham great reminisced about John Moncur’s goal against Leicester City that saw the Hammers avoid relegation, and the unforgettable 5-1 encounter with Sheffield Wednesday when Hartson netted twice and his strike partner Paul Kitson bagged a hat-trick.

He also looked back on his match-winning strike against Arsenal, along with his debut goal against Tottenham Hotspur in a 4-3 win, revealing that the atmosphere at the ground is spectacular

“The fans are renowned for the passion and the atmosphere they create here,” Hartson said. “The noise and the songs here are very special.

“Historically, West Ham is a very big club. It’s good to see them back as an established Premier League club; they’re back where they should be.”

And few would disagree with that.
