Agent puts Marek Hamsik’s future in doubt

Juraj VenglosMarek Hamsik’s agent – has refused to comment on his client’s future. Could this reignite Chelsea and Manchester United interest?

Napoli attacking midfielder Marek Hamsik has been at the centre of speculation from Premier League sides since 2011, and now it seems the Slovakian international may want a move from his current employer.

The report in the Express, which quotes Juraj Venglos, states: "Hamsik’s agent Juraj Venglos has hinted that his client is not entirely happy at Napoli, and could be destined to leave the Gli Azzurri should an attractive proposition present itself.

Venglos was directly asked about the 27-year-old’s future in Italy, to which he replied: "Future? I prefer not to talk about that."

The coy response is likely to set alarm bells ringing for any of the midfielder’s potential suitors – who are reported to include Manchester United and Chelsea.

Hamsik, who scored seven league goals in 28 appearances last season, is yet to really make an impact on Serie A this season and, as of this current moment, hasn’t found the back of the net in a league game despite making four appearances.

Both teams reportedly interested in the attacking midfielder – Manchester United and Chelsea – already have an impressive array of attacking options and whilst Hamsik could fit in to either system, it’s hard to see who he would displace.

The three time Slovak Footballer of the Year would improve any side in world football with his quality, but he will no doubt be looking for assurances over regular first-team football. Something both Chelsea and Manchester United would struggle to do.
