Manchester City latest: Toure on Drogba and international retirement

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has been speaking about his ambitions with Ivory Coast as the team look to win another Africa Cup of Nations.

In an exclusive interview with, the City star said, “For a couple of years now we’ve been chasing this trophy. We’ve not got it.

“This year is going to be the time again to do it. I hope at long last with my national team we can do it.”

Toure also spoke about his former international captain and current Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.

“Drogba was a great captain,” he said, “and now we know his decision he said he wanted to retire from the national team because for him it was the right time to leave.”

The City man also suggested he could follow suit in the not too distant future.

“We need to give the responsibly to the young lads coming through,” he said. “We need to give them the space.”

But for now he remains an integral part not just of City’s side, but also that of his homeland.

In other news, Manuel Pellegrini has been signing copies of City’s new book #Champions: The Sequel in the CityStore on Wednesday.

Could it be a trilogy by the end of this season? Only time will tell…
