A selection of the latest stories surrounding Tottenham Hotspur this Wednesday evening.
Tottenham playmaker Erik Lamela has been speaking of the importance of the win against Southampton prior to the international break.
Captain Younes Kaboul yesterday commented how much of an impact the defeat to Liverpool prior to the last break had on the side - and the win against Southampton provided the side with a welcome three points following a rocky run of results.
Lamela's comments to the club's website don't seem too different, with the Argentine saying:
“It was really important to get the three points on Sunday, especially for the players because the result gives us confidence going into the international break.
“I think the main thing against Southampton was to get the win. Sometimes, of course, you can’t play the prettiest football, you have to grind out the result – dig in like we did against Arsenal – and you have to adapt yourself to get the points. You can’t play offensive football every single game."
Left-back Ben Davies has been awarded the Young Welsh Footballer of the Year Award for the second year running.
Davies signed for Spurs from Swansea City in the summer, and has been battling it out with Danny Rose for a pace in the starting XI.
On accepting the award, he said: “It’s a lovely award, I’ve won it two years on the trot now so it’s nice to show that I’ve kept up the good work.”
Both Lennon himself and his wages are thought to be a stumbling block to any move. Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City were said to be interested in the last transfer window.
