How Bale comments could give Manchester United a difficult problem

Gareth Bale has urged Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at Real Madrid over a return to Manchester United.

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale has suggested that he wants to see Cristiano Ronaldo stay at Los Blancos over a return to Manchester United.

The chance of United re-signing the Portuguese superstar seems to be good after reports that Ronaldo is discontented with life at the European champions, desiring a move back to United where he feels he can enjoy himself more.

Any deal would set United back a considerable amount but would give Louis van Gaal access to another world class player and the Old Trafford club are one of the few sides in the world that could finance it.

However, Bale, who United tried to sign last summer, doesn’t want to see it happen.

“He's obviously a player we wouldn't want to see leave. Of course I want to see him stay at Real Madrid,” Bale told reporters.

“He's shown what a world-class player he is year after year scoring the goals he has.”

It’s no surprise that the Welshman wants to see Ronaldo remain at the club because he looks like becoming Real Madrid’s all time leading goalscorer.

His value to Carlo Ancelotti’s team is obvious because he’s maintained a strike rate of greater than one goal per game throughout his career at Real Madrid, since he moved there from United back in 2009.

Ronaldo has always talked fondly of United, which has allowed him to maintain a positive relationship with his former club, which has always made the possibility of a return good.

Bale’s comments also suggest that any issues related to Ronaldo’s unhappiness certainly aren’t in the dressing room but as reports have suggested, with officials and back room personnel at the club.

It’s often been debated that a potential reason Ronaldo could become unhappy at Real Madrid is because of his ego, the amount of money he’s paid and the way that could be received by his teammates.

However, Bale is clearly fond of him, doesn’t want to see him return to United and make Real Madrid weaker in the process.

Ronaldo could well end up back at United but it may not happen until he’s set the record for the most ever goals from a player in a Real Madrid shirt.
