Ex-Manchester United star Gabriel Heinze comments on Van Gaal and Sir Alex Ferguson

Former Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze is impressed with Louis van Gaal.

Former Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze believes Manchester United are on the road to recovery.

The ex-Argentine international has been speaking glowingly about the Scotsman in a new interview on a variety of topics.

Heinze, 36, who only retired this summer, is quoted by Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo:

"I think with Van Gaal, with Falcao and Di Maria, of course, they will rise.

"I thought that Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester would never be the same without him, but that does not mean they can not regain confidence and success."

Elaborating on his time at the Red Devils, he told how it was the attention to detail from Ferguson which made him so special.

"I remember Sir Alex came to me after a week in Manchester. I'll never forget how he was worried that my family was okay and were we missing anything.

"They asked my wife what we wanted and we drew on a sheet of paper a house as we would like. I was telling him to paint a grill for barbecues and a garage for our car. And the next day took us to see five houses, four of which were just like that."

Now the defensive warrior intends on going into management, and even pines for a few words of inspiration from Ferguson.

"I will ask Sir Alex to give me advice to become a better coach. He helped me a lot and although I also have my genius, I just feel grateful to him."
