Arsenal have been linked with Croatian prospect Marcelo Brozovic over the past fortnight, with The Mirror claiming they sent two scouts to watch him in action.
Brozovic plays for Dinamo Zagreb, and was highly impressive in a Europa League match with Celtic at Parkhead a week ago, creating four chances.
The 21-year-old is so highly rated in his homeland that he was the only outfield player selected in Croatia's 23-man World Cup squad.
It appears however the Gunners will not have it all their own way, with Inter Milan making him a top target.
Reports in Italy suggest Inter want to sign him to help their attack of Mauro Icardi, Rodrigo Palacio and Dani Osvaldo reach their potential.
The club are so far disappointed with performances of Mateo Kovacic and Hernanes this season, and are willing to offer €6 million for Brozovic.
Zagreb are likely to demand a higher price, which would give the Gunners an edge in securing a dynamic young back-up for record signing Mesut Ozil.
