Jackson Martinez honoured at Porto.
Jackson Martinez was strongly linked with a move away from Porto in the transfer window, only to sign a new contract in August.
The condition of that was a lower release clause of €30 million rather than €40 million as previously, but it cannot be activated in January.
Linked with switches to both Arsenal, AC Milan and Roma, he has continued this season in fine form, showing any concerns that he was over-priced, may have been made rashly.
He has eight goals in nine appearances in all competitions, including three strikes in the Champions League.
His form has seen him honoured at Porto's annual awards ceremony, voted club 'Athlete of the Year', report MaisFutebol.
Porto have various sporting clubs attached in their name, from women's football, to handball to even a swimming team, each of which were given respective awards, with Martinez scooping the overall top gong.
Such admiration will go some way to helping the Colombian from feeling at home at the club, which he has committed to in the knowledge his release clause can't come into effect until next summer.
As Porto battle to win back the Primeira Liga title from Benfica, there is no player more integral to their success than the man who successfully replaced Falcao, all Martinez has to do is keep it up.
