Arsene Wenger's shove on Jose Mourinho may have won a lot more column inches but it had nothing on Silvio Baldini kicking Domenico Di Carlo in the backside.
The touchline drama between Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho looks pretty tame compared to Catania boss Silvio Baldini's attack on Domenico Di Carlo seven years ago.
Tempers flared in August 2007 during the closing stages of Catania's 2-2 draw with Parma when Baldini reacted hilariously to being sent from his technical area in the 84th minute.
Parms boss Di Carlo couldn't resist a verbal parting shot as Baldini was sent from the sideline but he couldn't have expected to receive the reaction he received.
An incandescent Baldini proceeded to aim a stiff kick at Di Carlo's backside, making a decent connection.
A fiery character who was often labelled an anarchist, Baldini had his fair share of feuds but his kick at Di Carlo met with almost hysterical press reaction in Italy.
"Such a thing has never been seen before, not even on the lost pitches of the third world," La Repubblica reported.
Baldini received a one-month ban from the bench for his attack, but he set the bar high for coach on coach combat.
