Theo Walcott's return changes everything at Arsenal, and for Ozil

Theo Walcott 2

Theo Walcott could make his return this month for Arsenal, and what a welcome comeback it will be.

Theo Walcott returns to full training at Arsenal this week, having been a limited participant over the past few weeks.

With the club's own limitations exposed against Chelsea, failing to register a single shot on target despite an array of attacking talent on show, Walcott is a welcome game-changer.

He has pace which scares teams, as well as an eye for goal, particularly in crucial games, last season netting against Tottenham and Manchester City.

Walcott directly contributed to nine goals in 13 Premier League appearances last season, and you can only wonder how higher the 4-1 scoreline against Galatasaray could have been had he been on the pitch and firing.

The England international now has a fortnight of full training at the club, and has a reasonable shout of making the bench against Hull City in the club's next fixture.

Arsene Wenger told Arsenal.com last week: "Theo’s return is a big thing for us. Let’s not forget that he got injured on January 1 and we are now in October. That’s 10 months and we had to wait for a long time."

Walcott importantly can have a galvanising effect on under-fire German international Mesut Ozil.

Ozil has been played out wide at times, usually on the right, a position Walcott will occupy when he is fit, leaving Arsene Wenger more incentive to play him centrally.

The pair will also get the chance to play together regularly, after injuries prevented this last season.

Ozil is a player who relies on space in front of him and movement, able to play precision passes into his attackers. It was this which enabled him to thrive at Real Madrid, provided by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Now it is exaggeration to suggest Walcott can be as good, but his pace and movement are similarly strong attributes, and Ozil will certainly benefit from having him around, also because the Englishman will create space for fellow forwards Welbeck and Sanchez.

There will be teams Arsenal hammer this year with that forward line, and if Walcott can remain fit, they may yet turn their record in big games around too.
