Nigel Pearson has warned Leicester City fans not to put too much pressure on Riyad Mahrez.
A talented dribbler, Mahrez has adapted to Premier League life instantaneously and has threatened every defence he has faced so far, but Pearson admits that they must be cautious with the winger.
"One of the dangers for people like Riyad would be that expectation can climb through the roof if you’re not careful," he said to the club's official site.
“What can go with that what’s probably not as easy to deal with is those expectation levels may change.
“We have to keep an eye on how players develop and certainly he’s done very well in his time here so far.
“But of course, he’s a young player and he’ll make mistakes but he will also have a very positive impact. He’s a popular member of our squad.”
Mahrez has been a shining light in what has been a brilliant start to Premier League life from Leicester.
The Foxes have impressed all viewers so far, as they have climbed well clear of the drop zone after the first seven games of the season.
Pearson's side have beaten Manchester United and picked up draws with the likes of Everton and Arsenal during their first few games at the top level after being promoted last campaign and they will be aiming to build on this positive start after the international break.
They take on struggling Newcastle United in two weeks in their next fixture and, even though Pearson wants expectations to remain low, Mahrez will be key to them being successful.
The Magpies have proven vulnerable defensively and the Algerian is a player who can exploit those weaknesses and guide Leicester to the three points if he hits top form.
