Chelsea loanee Oriol Romeu has backed Roberto di Matteo to be a Bundesliga success.
The Italian confirmed his return to top flight management this week when he was appointed as manager of Schalke.
Romeu, who is on loan at Stuttgart, has been talking up the Chelsea legend.
He told Kicker: "Roberto is a great coach, a real winner with a very strong character.
"He manages to pull off the most out of every player.
"Though he has been out of work for some time I do not think will have problems and will try to succeed in this new challenge."
Di Matteo's greatest achievement as manager came in 2012, when after taking over as Chelsea caretaker boss, he led them to win the Champions League.
A poor start the following season saw him removed as manager, replaced with Rafa Benitez.
Di Matteo will face Chelsea in the Champions League group stages, but not at Stamford Bridge, with that fixture already played; and Chelsea will visit Gelsenkirchen on November 25 in the return match.
