Fulham may sit in the Championship relegation zone, but Middlesbrough defender Daniel Ayala believes they are far better than that.
He admits fifth placed 'Boro were relieved to emerge victors against Kit Symons' side, who have enjoyed a mini-resurgence since the sacking of Felix Magath.
He told the club's website: "You could see that Fulham had more confidence than a team at the bottom would normally have.
“They have a good team with Premier League quality, but I think we showed our character on Saturday and it was a really good win."
Ayala himself was key in the 2-0 win, clearing a shot off the line in helping the club keep a vital clean sheet.
They are now unbeaten in the last six matches, winning four of them, sitting in a play-off spot heading into the international break.
Fulham currently sit in 22nd, three points from safety, but can take heart from two wins in their last three, and the comments from Ayala on first hand signs of their improvement.
