Manchester United latest: FBI investigated Glazer threats; Keane's surprise shirt revelation

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from Old Trafford…

It has been reported that the FBI investigated threats against Manchester United’s late owner Malcolm Glazer and his family.

The BBC reports that threatening phone calls and emails were made to the American businessman, and that one came on the day he was announced as the new majority shareholder in the club.

In other news, Roy Keane has claimed sir Alex Ferguson wanted him to wear the iconic number 7 shirt rather than David Beckham.

In the latest extract from Keane’s autobiography, published by the Independent, the former United midfielder said, “The manager pulled me into his office and said that he wanted me to wear the seven.

“I said, ‘No I’m not that bothered’.”

Ultimately the shirt did go to Beckham, and he did it proud before he left for Real Madrid; and in truth, picturing Keane in any shirt other than the number 16 just does not feel right.
