Gabriel Heinze is as uncompromising off the pitch as he was on it, strongly criticising Real Madrid for selling Angel di Maria to Manchester United.
Heinze is a former player of both clubs, and he believes the decision to let the winger go defies belief.
He is quoted by Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, commenting on the £60 million British record transfer:
"For me one of the very most influential players and one of the four best in the world.
"Whoever let Di Maria go from Real Madrid, does not understand football.
"I do not get off-field issues, I refer only to the games on the pitch. It's incomprehensible decision. A player like Di Maria you cannot sell like that. When I was told I could not believe it."
A quite extraordinary blast for Real, and not one they will appreciate. You can only imagine what he might have to say if they sold his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo back to the Red Devils.
