Liverpool fans are virtually split down the middle over whether Glen Johnson should get a new contract.
The right-back has announced that talks have stalled over a new deal as he targets a return to action after the international break.
Popular Liverpool blog This Is Anfield invited Liverpool fans to vote on their feelings over a new deal and at the time of writing, 52% were in favour of the defender being allowed to wind down his contract and leave for free at the end of the season.
Johnson is facing a difficult challenge to get back into the Liverpool team, play effectively and stay there because Javi Manquillo has started life in England well and John Flanagan was superb as a full-back last season.
Johnson’s consistency has often split Liverpool fans but he could be allowed to leave if he doesn’t budge on his £110,000 per week wages which are thought to be the sticking point over a new deal.
It will be interesting to see whether Rodgers throws Johnson back into the side for games against QPR and Hull City or whether he sticks with Manquillo with Flanagan another option when he's eventually back after knee surgery.
