Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema speaks of the understanding he has with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Spanish giants reportedly wanted to sign Radamel Falcao, with sections of the fans not happy with the France international.
With Arsenal and Liverpool both looking for strikers, Benzema’s name was often mentioned in the British media.
However, the 26-year-old signed a new contract with the 2014 Champions League winners in August which will see him remain at the Santiago Bernabeu until June 2019.
Although anything is possible in transfer windows, Benzema’s departure from Madrid in the summer was always unlikely. And his recent comments about his happiness at playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale just proves that.
'Over time your reactions become more instinctive', he told Marca. 'We understand each other very well, we complement each other and we always try to help each other on the pitch. Each of us has his own playing style, but we always play for the team'.
Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo recently claimed that Benzema is the best striker in La Liga and one of the best in the world, and it now seems a bit absurd to think that the Frenchman was believed to be on his way out of the Spanish capital.
As Benzema notes, it takes time for the players to understand each other and develop a relationship on the pitch. Bale, Benzema and Ronaldo have developed that understanding perfectly – no wonder Madrid gave the Frenchman a new deal.
